A heat-shielded intake for second-generation B58 engines. This is the other approach to the same problem a front mount intake solves: rather than relocating the filter to the nose of the car, it keeps the filter in its factory position and puts a barrier between it and the heat coming off the engine and exhaust.
The trade-off against a front mount system is straightforward. A heat-shielded intake is a much shorter install and does not require dismantling the front of the car, but it cannot draw air as cool as the nose of the car can. For a daily-driven B58 that is often the sensible choice.
This is a Gen 2 part and the B58 generations are not interchangeable. No tune is required, no emissions equipment is affected, and it ships to all 50 states.

A downpipe on the factory calibration leaves the engine expecting a catalyst that is no longer there, which sets a check engine light and can put the car into reduced power.
